Don't Cut Me!
By Loraine Lsc Creations
Help stop global warming, save a tree! Trees produce oxygen: A mature leafy tree produces as much oxygen in a season as 10 people inhale in a year. Don't you think its funny how the governments keep telling us that the cars and factories with their emissions is causing global warming. Maybe they need to look into all of the clearing of our forests that is causing some of the problems too. Maybe its because to many of our politicians are into housing development themselves and don't care if contractors are clear cutting large areas of land. There is no excuse why contractors need to do clear cut the land to put up a house. If a home owner is building a house and wants the land clear cut, they need to go back to the city and buy a house there. If you hate trees stay in the city. For many years I have discourage home owners from cutting trees down unless they have to. People think that if they have a tree in their yard it will harm their house. Well, I have over 29 trees in my front yard which average between 90-100 feet tall. These trees keep my house very cool in the summer time so I don't need to run a air conditioner and protect my house from bad weather. When bad storms come with their damaging winds, the trees act as windbreaks thus preventing damage to my house and property. In fact last winter a bad ice storm came and left 3" of ice on everything. My huge oak trees started snapping off at the top sending branches down the size of small trees. My house still wasn't harmed and these trees help stop some of the ice from accumulating on parts of my house that would have caused damage. Being I have such good windbreaks during the winter my heating bill won't be as bad as someone that has no trees around their house. People come out from the city to my area and can't get over how clean the air is. Well, I have trees they don't. Trees absorb and locks away carbon dioxide in the wood, roots and leaves so when you have lots of trees around your air will be clean. Trees also clean the air by intercepting airborne particles, reducing heat, and absorbing pollutants like carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide. Trees also remove air pollution by lowering air temperature through respiration and by retaining particulates as well. You've seen how hot it is when you go to any area, i.e., parking lots, that's all cement and asphalt haven't you? It is really funny how people try their best to park their car someplace where its cool. I've seen people fight over a parking spot that had a little tree that was giving some shade. It would be much nicer if stores would have left trees around the area instead of cutting them all down. Trees will also help to increase the property value of your home by 15% or more. People say to me that my house looks like someone just dropped it down among the trees. When I had my house built I told the contractor you don't cut one tree down that you don't have to. He didn't either. The trees that were taken down were either dead or trees that would have died do to over crowding. If you have a place where you get water run off from a storm, plant a tree. By planting one Colorado blue spruce, it can intercept more than 1000 gallons of water annually when fully grown. Do to housing contractors coming out further into the country they buy up large partials of land and clear out most all of the trees. This is driving the animals out of the area into more suburban areas where people are petrified of a wild animal. When cutting down all of the trees this is also causing water problems, erosion issues, pollution and damage to the overall environment. People need to rethink how they approach land and trees this day and age. We can't be just cutting trees down and not thinking what the long term issues it may cause. So help save the earth and go out and plant a tree!
